Discover how to Plan Wedding Shower!

Planning Wedding Shower Secret #1: HOST

A bridal shower is commonly hosted by the maid-of-honor and bridesmaids. It is acceptable for family members of the bride to host the shower.

Planning Wedding Shower Secret #2: TIMING
Usually held within two months of the wedding, up to two weeks before the big day. Any time of day is acceptable, but most often showers are afternoon events.

Planning Wedding Shower Secret #3: GUESTS
Do not invite guests to the shower who have not been invited to the wedding. Invite only girls! Only female members of both families should be invited to the wedding shower. Download my guest list sheet to stay organized! Planning a comfortable wedding shower means, inviting 5-20 people.

Planning Wedding Shower Secret #4: REGISTER
You should be registered by the time of the shower. Wedding shower is traditionally a gift-giving event.

Planning Wedding Shower Secret #5: INVITATION
The invitations do not need to be extremely fancy, but it will set the mood for the shower!
Don't forget to order the matching thank you notes! Mail invitations 3-6 weeks before the date of the wedding shower! Mail thank you notes before the wedding date! Invitations should include:
-bride's name
-shower date and time
-hostess' name and phone number
-address of shower
-map of shower location (optional)
-RSVP date and phone number
-shower theme information (if applicable)
-registry information (It is proper to put on the invitations!)

Planning Wedding Shower Secret #6: THEME
It is a great idea! Here are some of my favorites: Lingerie showers, Kitchen item showers, Around-the-clock showers (where everyone is assigned a time of day for which to select a gift) Travel gift showers

Planning Wedding Shower Secret #7: FAVORS
Don't forget to give favors to your guests! This is how you say thank you for coming! Traditional bridal shower favors such as small boxes of candy or unique wedding favors what your friends deserve!

Planning Wedding Shower Secret #8: SURPRISE
Please don't do it! Bride should be involved in the guest list preparations and other ideas as previously mentioned The bride may be surprised with a second shower with only her closest of friends close to the wedding.

Planning Wedding Shower Secret #9: PROGRAM
Greet Guests
Serve light appetizers After all or almost all guests have arrived, go around the room and have each guest introduce herself and identify how she knows the bride.
Play 2-4 shower games
It is good to play games at the beginning as icebreakers. Remember some guests may not know *anyone* but the bride.
Eat
Let everyone go get whatever food may be available and then once everyone has been served.
Gifts; the bride can begin to open her gifts
Be sure to have someone write down each gift and who it is from. It will make sending thank-you notes a lot easier. Make sure the bride gets to say goodbye to everyone and the hostess thanks the person for attending. Shower favors should be given out to the guests at the end of the wedding shower.

Planning Wedding Shower Secret #10: GAMES
Games that can serve as ice barkers for the party are a particularly good idea if a large number of the guests don't already know one another.

Planning Wedding Shower Secret #11: FOOD & BEVERAGE
No meal has to be served at a shower. Finger-foods; chips, pretzels, ice cream, pie, cake... A fruit or vegetable tray is a good alternative for the health conscious. There should be coffee & punch, soft drinks available. Having a potluck is fun idea. The guests could then include the recipe for the item that they brought.
